In the UK, theme parks have indeed been abandoned; however, many of them have since been dismantled or repurposed. Among the noteworthy instances are:
Camelot Theme Park (Chorley, Lancashire)
- Closed in 2012 due to declining visitor numbers.
 - It was based on the legend of King Arthur and had a medieval theme.
 - The site became a popular location for urban explorers but has since been demolished.

Pleasure Island (Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire)
- Closed in 2016 after struggling financially.
 - It featured family-friendly rides and attractions.
 - The site remains unused as of now.

American Adventure (Derbyshire)
- Closed in 2007 due to competition and declining interest.
 - It had a Wild West theme and was known for rides like The Missile rollercoaster.
 - The site has been redeveloped for housing and leisure purposes.
