Kentucky Kingdom is getting ready to take flight in 2026 with its newest addition — Flying Fox, a family-friendly suspended coaster that promises smooth swoops, immersive storytelling, and the feeling of flight. Here’s everything we know so far about this exciting new ride.
What Is Flying Fox?
Flying Fox is a suspended family coaster — meaning riders will soar beneath the track rather than above it. Themed around a daring pilot named Jeb Fox, the ride will let guests “soar above Kentucky’s farmland” in a playful, story-driven adventure. The creative team at Herschend (the company behind Dollywood and Silver Dollar City) is designing the theming to highlight the park’s regional roots and charm.
Expect queue areas that resemble rustic barns, ambient farm sounds, and storytelling that builds anticipation before boarding.
The Ride Experience
While Flying Fox isn’t built for high-intensity thrills, it’s set to deliver the perfect balance of fun and family excitement. Riders can expect gentle curves, smooth turns, and the satisfying sense of gliding through open air.
Flying Fox is scheduled to open Spring 2026. Construction has already begun, and early concept art suggests a bright, colorful, countryside-inspired area surrounding the ride.
For season passholders, keep an eye out for exclusive early ride previews or soft openings as the park approaches launch season.
Kentucky Kingdom’s Flying Fox looks set to be a hit with families and coaster fans alike. With its welcoming height restriction, regional theming, and accessible thrills, it bridges the gap between kiddie rides and the park’s more extreme coasters.
Whether you’re a local regular or planning a trip to Louisville in 2026, Flying Fox is shaping up to be a must-ride attraction that soars high on fun and charm.
