Families visiting Clacton Pier this Mother’s Day will have an extra reason to celebrate, as the popular seaside attraction is once again offering free rides for mums during the special occasion.
The Essex pier has announced that on Mother’s Day 2026, mums can enjoy the rides at no extra cost when visiting with their children. The initiative, which was first introduced in 2024, proved so popular that it is now returning for its third consecutive year.
How the Free Ride Offer Works
Under the promotion, one adult identified as “mum” will receive a complimentary wristband when a child purchases a Big Day Out Band for unlimited rides. This allows mothers to join their children on the attractions without needing to buy their own ride pass.
The offer is designed to ensure families can enjoy the rides together, rather than parents having to watch from the sidelines.
Children who already have annual passes will also be able to take advantage of the offer, with one adult receiving an unlimited rides band per passholder.
Inclusive for All Types of Families
Clacton Pier has emphasised that the offer is not limited strictly to biological mothers. Instead, it is extended to anyone who identifies as “mum” in a family.
This includes:
- Grandmothers
- Aunts
- Guardians aged 18+
The aim is to ensure that every family can celebrate together, regardless of their family structure.
A Chance to Try the Refurbished Helter Skelter
Visitors taking advantage of the Mother’s Day promotion will also be able to experience the newly refurbished Helter Skelter, which recently reopened after months of restoration work.
According to the pier’s communications manager, Nigel Brown, the attraction has already received extremely positive feedback from visitors who have returned to try the updated ride.
A Tradition of Family Events at the Pier
Located in Clacton-on-Sea, the historic pier has been welcoming visitors since 1871 and features a mix of classic seaside attractions, including amusement rides, arcades, bowling and family entertainment.
Seasonal promotions like the Mother’s Day ride offer are part of the pier’s ongoing effort to encourage family days out and shared experiences.
And it’s not just mums who will get a treat this year — the attraction has confirmed it will run a similar free rides offer for dads on Father’s Day in June, extending the celebration to grandads, uncles and guardians as well.
