Paultons Park, the beloved family theme park near Romsey, has revealed bold plans to build its first-ever on-site holiday village.
The proposal outlines 122 self-catering lodges designed to accommodate nearly 600 guests, spread across two-, three-, and four-bedroom units — including accessible options.
A Scandinavian Retreat on the Edge of the Park
The lodges are planned with a Scandinavian rustic design, emphasising natural materials, cozy interiors, and a relaxed, woodsy feel. This aesthetic is intended to harmonise with the surrounding greenery, giving visitors a peaceful base after a day in the park.
Guest Facilities and Amenities
Alongside the lodges, the development would include a central “gateway building” housing the reception for resort guests. Key features of the resort centre include:
- A 400 sqm restaurant to serve breakfast, dinner, and everything in between
- A 65 sqm essentials shop for food, snacks, and everyday items
- An indoor entertainment and games room for families to relax together
- Upgraded parking facilities to improve guest drop-off and access

Strategic Timing and Park Growth
Paultons Park is investing heavily in its future. The holiday village announcement comes as the park continues to expand its attractions. Notably, it recently won Theme Park of the Year at the UK Theme Park Awards (2025), highlighting its growing reputation.
In addition, the park is developing a new Viking-themed area called “Valgard: Realm of the Vikings”, which is set to open on 16 May 2026. This area will introduce several new rides, including:
- Drakon, a rollercoaster featuring two inversions
- Vild Swing, a 12-metre-high swing ride (reportedly a UK first)
- A themed Viking playground
- A Viking-style feasting hall to complete the immersive experience
Paultons Park’s move toward creating its first-ever on-site holiday village signals a major evolution for the beloved family theme park.
By combining stay-and-play convenience with thoughtful, sustainable design, the resort has the potential to transform Paultons from a single-day outing into a fully immersive short-break destination.
While the project is still in its early stages, the plans highlight the park’s long-term vision: to continue growing, innovating, and offering families even more reasons to return year after year.

Looking forward to seeing how this holiday village will turn out.
I like the idea of a Scandinavian design for the lodges.
It’s interesting to see Paultons Park expanding and evolving.
I hope they keep the natural feel of the park despite all the new developments.
The holiday village sounds like a nice addition to the park.
