Alton Towers Brings Back The Phantom Melody for Scarefest

There are plenty of reasons to visit Alton Towers during Scarefest, but one experience that has caught our attention is making its return this year.

The Symphony of the Towers: The Phantom Melody is back.

Set against the iconic Alton Towers after dark, the free evening show combines light, sound and atmosphere as the Earl calls upon the spirits of his ancestors to cross over into the world of the living.

And in our opinion, bringing this show back is a brilliant decision.

A Welcome Return to Scarefest

The Towers are already one of the most atmospheric parts of Alton Towers, particularly once darkness falls. Using them as the backdrop for a supernatural light and sound show feels like a perfect fit for Scarefest.

It’s also great to see The Phantom Melody return as a free experience each evening, giving visitors something else to enjoy between rides and scare attractions.

A Shame About the Final Exhibit

While we’re excited to see The Phantom Melody return, it is a little sad to see that the final exhibit will not be located inside the Towers.

The Towers themselves have always been such an important part of the atmosphere and history of Alton Towers, and being able to explore them as part of the Scarefest experience added something really special.

That said, bringing back The Phantom Melody helps keep the Towers at the heart of the Halloween experience.

A Brilliant Way to Use the Towers After Dark

There is something special about standing in front of the Towers after sunset and watching them come alive through light and sound.

The combination of the historic building, darkness, music and supernatural storyline creates an atmosphere that simply wouldn’t be possible during the daytime.

For us, this is exactly the sort of entertainment that Scarefest should have.

It doesn’t need another roller coaster or scare attraction. Sometimes it’s about creating a memorable atmosphere and giving visitors something unexpected to watch.

One to Add to Your Scarefest Evening

The Symphony of the Towers: The Phantom Melody will take place after sunset throughout Scarefest evenings and is free with park admission.

While it’s disappointing that the final exhibit isn’t inside the Towers anymore, we’re really pleased to see this light and sound spectacular return.

If you’re heading to Alton Towers for Scarefest, we’d definitely recommend making time to stand in front of the Towers and experience it.
