Planning documents have now officially been released for a brand-new walkthrough attraction at Alton Towers, and fans are already speculating about what could be coming to X-Sector next.

The proposed attraction is set to be built on the former Enterprise and Submission site, two iconic flat rides that once helped define the area’s intense industrial atmosphere.
According to the documents, the new experience will also make use of Enterprise’s old queue line, suggesting guests could soon be returning to a long-abandoned corner of the park for the first time in months.
While the plans stop short of confirming exactly what the attraction will be, rumours are already circulating that the project could be a brand-new scare maze or horror walkthrough experience.
Given the isolated location within X-Sector and the enclosed show building planned for the site, many fans believe the resort could be creating a year-round horror attraction or a major addition to the park’s scare offering.
The planning documents also reveal some interesting details about the building itself. The structure is designed to “reinforce the X-Sector’s futuristic/industrial theme” and will feature non-reflective cladding alongside an industrial-style finish created by the resort’s in-house creative team.
If executed well, it sounds like the new building could blend perfectly into the dark and atmospheric surroundings already established by rides like The Smiler and Oblivion.
Visually, the project sounds promising and should finally bring fresh life back to a section of X-Sector that has felt empty since Enterprise and Submission were removed.
However, some fans may still feel slightly disappointed that the development does not appear to be a new flat ride — something many believe the area desperately needs to improve its attraction lineup and overall capacity.
Even so, it is exciting to see movement on one of the resort’s most underused plots of land, and with rumours continuing to grow, all eyes will now be on Alton Towers to see exactly what emerges from the shadows of X-Sector.
