Best UK Theme Parks This Week Based on Weather (Week of 24–30 August 2026)

Planning a theme park day this week but not sure where the weather will be best?

With the summer holidays continuing and plenty of families still looking for days out, the weather could make a big difference when choosing which UK theme park to visit.

We’ve looked at the latest forecasts for some of the UK’s biggest theme parks and picked out the destinations that currently look most promising for a day of rides and attractions between Monday 24 and Sunday 30 August 2026.

Remember that UK weather forecasts can change, particularly towards the end of the seven-day period, so always check the latest forecast before travelling.

Paultons Park – Hampshire

Our weather pick of the week

Paultons Park currently looks like one of the best options for visitors hoping for warmer weather.

The forecast is particularly encouraging during the first half of the week, with temperatures reaching around 26°C on Tuesday and around 24–25°C on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

There are some chances of showers later in the week, but there should still be plenty of sunny intervals.

That makes Paultons Park a particularly attractive option for families looking for a warm summer day out.

The park’s location in Hampshire also puts it in a potentially favourable part of the country compared with some of the cooler northern and coastal destinations.

Best days: Monday–Thursday

Thorpe Park – Surrey

Thorpe Park is another strong choice this week, particularly if you’re looking to visit earlier in the week.

The latest forecast for Chertsey shows temperatures reaching the mid-20s Celsius, with sunny intervals expected before conditions become more unsettled later in the week.

Wednesday and Thursday could reach around 26°C, making them particularly appealing for a day riding Hyperia, Stealth and The Swarm.

The weekend forecast is less settled, with showers possible and temperatures dropping slightly.

Best days: Tuesday–Thursday

Alton Towers – Staffordshire

Alton Towers starts the week reasonably well, with sunny spells and temperatures around the low-to-mid 20s.

Tuesday currently looks particularly promising, with a forecast high around 24°C.

However, the second half of the week looks more unsettled, with scattered showers becoming increasingly likely.

Saturday and Sunday currently look cooler, with temperatures around the high teens to 20°C and showers possible.

If you’re able to choose your day, Monday or Tuesday currently look like the better options.

There’s also an added reason to visit this week: Alton Towers’ Minecraft: Meet the Mobs experience is approaching its final days, with the event ending on 28 August.

LEGOLAND Windsor

LEGOLAND Windsor is another park worth considering, particularly earlier in the week.

Forecasts suggest temperatures could reach the mid-20s Celsius around the middle of the week, although showers become more likely as the weekend approaches.

The timing is also useful for families because LEGO Festival continues until 31 August, meaning there is still plenty happening at the resort during the final days of the summer holidays.

If you’re planning a visit, Tuesday to Thursday currently look more attractive from a weather perspective than the weekend.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is still a great option for a theme park day, but the weather currently puts it lower down our list.

The latest forecast suggests cooler conditions than southern England, with temperatures generally around 19–22°C towards the end of the week.

There is also an increased chance of showers, along with stronger winds at times.

For a coastal theme park, wind is particularly important because stronger conditions can potentially affect some attractions.

That doesn’t mean you should rule out Blackpool, though. The park has plenty of entertainment alongside its rides, including shows and events.

Best days: Earlier in the week

What About the Weekend?

If you’re restricted to Saturday or Sunday, don’t automatically cancel your theme park plans because of a shower symbol.

The current forecasts show changeable conditions across much of the UK, rather than continuous rain all day.

This is particularly important when planning a theme park visit because a forecast showing showers doesn’t necessarily mean that the park will experience rain for the entire day.

In fact, attractions have previously warned that simple weather-app icons can sometimes give visitors the wrong impression about the actual conditions they will experience.

A short shower could simply mean taking a break for lunch, visiting an indoor attraction or heading for a show before returning to the rides.

Our Advice for Theme Park Visitors

If you’re planning a visit this week, we’d recommend:

• Check the forecast on the morning of your visit
• Take a lightweight waterproof jacket, even if sunshine is forecast
• Wear comfortable shoes that can cope with wet conditions
• Remember that temperatures can feel cooler when you’re on exposed rides
• If visiting a coastal park such as Blackpool, check the wind forecast too
• Consider arriving early if the weather looks good
• Take advantage of indoor attractions and shows if showers arrive

The Verdict

For the week of 24–30 August 2026, Paultons Park currently looks like our best weather pick, with Thorpe Park and the southern parks also benefiting from generally warmer conditions.

However, Alton Towers remains a strong choice earlier in the week, while LEGOLAND Windsor could be a good option around the middle of the week.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach currently looks cooler and more unsettled, although that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a washout.

Ultimately, UK weather can change quickly, so this ranking should be treated as a snapshot of the current forecast rather than a guarantee.
