Diggerland Summer Opening Ends Today: What Changes From September?

Families planning a trip to Diggerland will need to be aware of a change to the theme park’s opening schedule as the summer holidays come to an end.

Diggerland’s daily summer opening ends today, Monday 31st August 2026, meaning the popular construction-themed attraction will no longer be open every day from September.

The change affects families planning visits to Diggerland’s four UK locations in Kent, Devon, Durham and Yorkshire.

Diggerland Will Open Every Weekend in September

From September, Diggerland moves to a more limited seasonal opening schedule.

The official 2026 opening calendar shows that Diggerland will be open every weekend throughout September.

The September weekend dates are:

• Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th September
• Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th September
• Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September
• Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th September

This means families looking to visit during September will need to plan their trip around the weekend opening dates rather than expecting the parks to be open during the week.

What About October Half Term?

Diggerland will increase its opening schedule again for the October half-term period.

The 2026 calendar shows the parks opening during the October half-term, with the attraction’s last day of the season falling on Saturday 31st October 2026.

This makes October half term one of the final opportunities for families to enjoy Diggerland before the parks close for the winter.

Diggerland’s own terms also describe the attraction as a seasonal park, with the main season running through to the autumn.

Don’t Turn Up Without Checking First

With Diggerland’s opening pattern changing considerably after the summer holidays, families should check the official opening calendar before travelling.

A weekday visit that would have been possible during August may not be possible in September.

Diggerland Durham – County Durham

There Are Still Plenty of Opportunities to Visit

Although daily summer opening is ending, Diggerland isn’t closing just yet.

Families still have September weekends and the October half-term period to look forward to before the 2026 season comes to an end.

There are also special events taking place outside the standard summer schedule. For example, Diggerland Kent is holding a special Family Fun Evening on Friday 4th September, with free entry and rides costing £2 per person.
