Which Ride Gets You Wettest? We Put the UK’s Biggest Water Rides Head-to-Head

If you’re heading to a UK theme park this summer, one question is guaranteed to come up:

Which ride gets you the wettest?

Whether you love walking around soaked for the rest of the day or you’re trying to avoid an unexpected drenching, we’ve compared three of the UK’s most famous water rides:

So… which one wins?

Valhalla – Blackpool Pleasure Beach

If staying dry is your goal, don’t even think about riding Valhalla.

Widely regarded as the UK’s wettest ride, Valhalla combines multiple drops with an incredible mix of water cannons, waterfalls, mist, spray effects and immersive indoor scenes. Even after its major refurbishment, one thing hasn’t changed—you’re almost guaranteed to leave absolutely soaked. Its famous warning still rings true:

“You will get wet, you may get soaked.”

It’s not unusual for riders to leave with soaked shoes, drenched clothes and water dripping from every inch of them. Theme park enthusiasts regularly rank it as the wettest ride in Britain.

Tidal Wave – Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park’s giant Shoot the Chute ride creates one of the biggest splashes in Europe.

After climbing 85 feet, the huge boat crashes into the water below, sending an enormous wall of water into the air. Riders in the front rows usually receive the biggest soaking, but everyone onboard should expect to get very wet.

The splash is so massive that spectators standing in the famous splash zone often end up just as drenched as the riders.

Stormforce 10 – Drayton Manor

Stormforce 10 is unlike any other water ride in the UK thanks to its famous backwards drop.

Your soaking depends on where you’re sitting. Those in the back row during the reverse plunge often experience a huge wave crashing straight over the boat, while other seats can be noticeably less wet.

On the right ride cycle, Stormforce 10 can absolutely drench you—but it’s a little less predictable than Valhalla or Tidal Wave. Many enthusiasts still rank the back row among the wettest ride experiences in the UK.

The Verdict

1st Place: Valhalla (Blackpool Pleasure Beach)

A complete soaking from start to finish. If you’re wearing trainers, expect soggy feet for the rest of the day.

2nd Place: Tidal Wave (Thorpe Park)

One enormous splash that leaves most riders drenched.

3rd Place: Stormforce 10 (Drayton Manor)

The backwards drop delivers a fantastic soaking, especially if you’re unlucky enough to be in the splashiest seat.
