Battle Galleons and Congo River Rapids Opening This Weekend at Alton Towers

Congo River Rapids & Battle Galleons Finally Return This Saturday at Alton Towers

After a delayed start to the 2026 season, it looks like two of the resort’s most popular water attractions are finally set to reopen.

According to the official Alton Towers app, both Congo River Rapids and Battle Galleons are currently scheduled to open on Saturday, May 23rd for the first time this season.

The delayed openings had left many guests wondering when the attractions would return, especially with warmer weather and half-term crowds approaching. While Alton Towers has yet to officially announce the reopening on social media, the resort’s online ride availability calendar now lists both attractions as operating from this weekend onwards.

What This Means for Guests

The reopening of these two attractions is a major boost for the park heading into the busy late-May period:

  • Congo River Rapids offers one of the park’s classic family water rides, complete with soaking rapids and unpredictable splashes.
  • Battle Galleons remains one of the UK’s best interactive water attractions, where guests can soak both riders and unsuspecting bystanders.

Their return also means nearly all of the park’s major attractions should now be available for guests visiting during the upcoming school holiday period.

Worth Keeping in Mind

As always with theme parks, planned openings can still change due to technical issues, weather conditions, or operational adjustments. Guests visiting this weekend may want to check the official app or website on the day of their visit for the latest availability updates.
