Fossil Falls at ROARR!: 10 Things You Need to Know Before Riding

Looking for a new family thrill at ROARR!? Fossil Falls is one attraction you won’t want to miss.

Described by ROARR! as the UK’s longest outdoor tubing slide, Fossil Falls stretches for 107 metres and sees riders climb aboard a doughnut-shaped inflatable tube before flying down the slide and through a 12-metre tunnel.

But before you head for the queue, there are a few important things you need to know.

From the minimum height and maximum weight to riding with younger children, here’s our guide to 10 things you need to know before riding Fossil Falls at ROARR!.

1. It’s the UK’s longest outdoor tubing slide

The biggest talking point about Fossil Falls is its size.

The attraction is 107 metres long, and ROARR! describes it as the UK’s longest outdoor tubing slide.

That makes it considerably more than a small family slide and gives riders a substantial descent to enjoy.

If you’re looking for something different from a traditional theme park ride, Fossil Falls offers a very different experience.

2. You’ll ride in a giant inflatable tube

Fossil Falls isn’t a traditional water slide or body slide.

Instead, riders climb onto a doughnut-shaped inflatable tube before setting off down the course.

The tube forms a major part of the experience as you travel down the slide, making Fossil Falls feel more like a dedicated tubing attraction than an ordinary playground slide.

3. You need to be at least 90cm tall

There is a minimum height requirement for Fossil Falls.

Riders must be at least 90cm tall to experience the attraction.

This means that some of ROARR!’s youngest visitors won’t be able to ride, so it’s worth checking your child’s height before heading to the attraction.

ROARR! uses a height-based system for its ride restrictions rather than simply setting an age requirement.

4. Children under 100cm need an adult

There’s an additional rule for smaller riders.

Anyone who is under 100cm tall must ride with an adult.

So while the minimum height is 90cm, children between 90cm and 100cm cannot ride independently.

This is particularly useful information for families with younger children who are just tall enough to experience Fossil Falls.

5. There is a maximum weight limit

Fossil Falls also has a maximum weight restriction.

Riders must weigh no more than 130kg.

The restriction applies regardless of age, so it’s worth checking the attraction requirements before joining the queue if you’re unsure whether you meet the limits.

6. Secure footwear is essential

One of the most important things to remember before riding is your footwear.

ROARR! states that secure footwear with a heel strap is required on Fossil Falls.

That means flip-flops and sliders aren’t allowed.

It’s worth keeping this in mind when planning what to wear for your day at ROARR!, particularly during warmer weather when visitors may naturally choose open footwear.

If Fossil Falls is on your must-do list, make sure you’ve got suitable footwear with you.

7. There’s a 12-metre tunnel

Fossil Falls isn’t simply a straight ride from the top to the bottom.

During the descent, riders travel through a 12-metre tunnel.

This adds another element to the ride and helps give the attraction a little more character than a straightforward tubing slide.

You’ll climb aboard your tube, set off down the course and then disappear into the tunnel before continuing towards the end of the attraction.

8. It’s designed for family thrills

Although Fossil Falls is a thrilling attraction, its requirements make it accessible to a relatively wide range of visitors.

With a 90cm minimum height, younger children can experience it when accompanied by an adult if they are under 100cm.

That makes it an interesting option for families visiting ROARR! with children who might not yet meet the height requirements for some of the park’s bigger attractions.

It’s also a good attraction for families who want something exciting without heading for a major roller coaster.

9. You don’t need to pay extra to ride

Another useful thing to know is that Fossil Falls is included with your ROARR! admission.

There isn’t a separate ride charge once you’re inside the park.

Your admission covers the park’s attractions, meaning you can experience Fossil Falls alongside attractions including the Splash Zone, Indoor Adventure Play, High Ropes, Raptor Contraptor, Swing-O-Saurus and Valley of the Dinosaurs.

That makes it easy to include Fossil Falls as part of a full day at ROARR!.

10. Check the attraction is operating before you visit

While Fossil Falls is listed by ROARR! as open on peak and off-peak days, attraction operation can change.

Weather, maintenance and other operational circumstances can affect individual attractions, so it’s always sensible to check ROARR!’s latest information before travelling.

The park’s What’s Open information is particularly useful if there is a specific attraction you don’t want to miss.

If Fossil Falls is high on your list, consider checking its status when planning your day rather than assuming every attraction will operate continuously.

Is Fossil Falls worth riding?

If you’re visiting ROARR! and meet the requirements, Fossil Falls is certainly worth adding to your itinerary.

The 107-metre length makes it a substantial attraction, while the inflatable tube, winding descent and 12-metre tunnel give it something different from the park’s other rides and attractions.

It’s particularly appealing for families because children from 90cm can ride, although those under 100cm need to be accompanied by an adult.

The footwear rule is probably the main thing to remember before you visit. Leave the flip-flops and sliders at home and make sure you have secure footwear with a heel strap.

And unlike a water ride, Fossil Falls isn’t something you need to ride expecting to get soaked — so you don’t need to plan a change of clothes for that reason.

For anyone planning a 2026 visit to ROARR!, Fossil Falls should be firmly on the list.

Information correct at the time of writing and based on information published by ROARR!. Height, weight, footwear and operational requirements can change, so always check the latest information with the park before your visit.
