Gulliver’s World vs Alton Towers: Which Is Better for Younger Children?

Choosing a theme park for younger children can be tricky. While Gulliver’s World Theme Park and Alton Towers Resort both offer plenty for families, they provide very different experiences.

Gulliver’s World: Built Around Younger Visitors

Gulliver’s World is specifically designed with families and younger children in mind. The park currently has around 30 rides across 10 themed areas, alongside play attractions and experiences.

There is a particularly good choice for children who may not yet be tall enough for the bigger rides found at traditional theme parks. Children under 90cm can enjoy up to 13 rides, while the number increases as children grow taller.

Some attractions are especially aimed at toddlers and younger visitors, including Percy’s Nippers’ Pirate Ship, Ellie’s Animal Merry Go Round and the gentle Ladybird Ride.

There are also plenty of themed play experiences, including Junior Cowboy Town and Western Street Play Area.

Alton Towers: CBeebies Land Is the Big Attraction

Alton Towers may be famous for its huge rollercoasters, but younger children have their own dedicated area in CBeebies Land.

CBeebies Land currently features more than 40 rides and attractions, with characters and shows based around popular children’s programmes.

There is a huge variety for younger visitors, including the In The Night Garden Magical Boat Ride, Go Jetters Vroomster Zoom Ride, Bugbie Go Round and Peter Rabbit Hippity Hop.

For children who are ready for their first coaster, there is also the Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure. The minimum height is 0.9m, with children between 0.9m and 1.1m needing to ride with an adult.

And in 2026, CBeebies Land has another major attraction: Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, a junior coaster designed specifically for younger children.

Which Has More for Toddlers?

For very young children, both parks have plenty to offer, but Gulliver’s World arguably has the simpler proposition.

Much of the park is designed around children, meaning families don’t need to spend as much time avoiding large thrill rides that younger children cannot experience.

Alton Towers’ CBeebies Land is extremely well suited to toddlers and preschoolers, but the wider resort is still a major theme park with attractions aimed at older children and adults.

Which Is Better for a First Theme Park Visit?

Gulliver’s World could be the better choice for a first theme park trip.

Its smaller scale and focus on younger visitors can make it easier for families to enjoy a relaxed day without feeling like they are missing out on the park’s biggest attractions.

However, if your child loves CBeebies characters, shows and themed attractions, Alton Towers could be the clear winner.

CBeebies Land offers a much more immersive experience, with familiar characters, live entertainment and a large selection of rides and attractions. Alton Towers also has other areas suitable for young children, including The World of David Walliams and Sharkbait Reef by SEA LIFE.

Gulliver’s World vs Alton Towers: The Verdict

If your children are toddlers or preschoolers, Gulliver’s World is a fantastic option and is arguably the easier park for a day focused entirely on younger children.

If they are big fans of Bluey, CBeebies or children’s TV characters, Alton Towers’ CBeebies Land could provide the more memorable experience.
