UK theme park enthusiasts planning a trip to the United States may want to add another destination to their bucket list, as California’s Great America prepares to close permanently after more than 50 years.
Six Flags has confirmed that the 2027 season will be the park’s last, with its final day of operation scheduled for 6 September 2027.
Located in Santa Clara, California, California’s Great America first opened in 1976 and has welcomed millions of visitors over the decades.
The park is home to several popular attractions, including the wooden rollercoaster Gold Striker, the single-rail coaster RailBlazer, Flight Deck and Patriot.
For UK rollercoaster fans who have always wanted to experience these attractions, 2027 could be the perfect opportunity to plan a trip across the Atlantic.
California’s Great America is also ideally located for visitors wanting to explore more of the state, with San Francisco, San Jose and the Californian coastline all offering opportunities for additional sightseeing.
With the park entering its final season, visitors should keep an eye on official announcements regarding opening dates, operating hours and any special farewell celebrations.
For a theme park that has been part of California’s entertainment scene for five decades, its closure will mark the end of an era.
