Alton Towers Resort has surprised guests by opening its popular wooden roller coaster Wicker Man during the ongoing Pirate Takeover event — giving thrill-seekers a rare opportunity to ride the attraction across a limited weekend window.
The February half-term Pirate Takeover, running from 14–22 February 2026, transforms areas of the Staffordshire theme park into a swashbuckling family adventure featuring live shows, treasure hunts and themed entertainment centred around Mutiny Bay and Towers Street.
While the event traditionally focuses on family attractions with much of the major coaster line-up closed ahead of the main season, Wicker Man has been made available from Friday through Sunday, offering guests an unexpected dose of thrills during the winter offering.
Pirate Takeover continues until the end of the February half-term period, before Alton Towers prepares for its full 2026 season opening in March, when the complete ride line-up will return.
