Drakon at Paultons Park: Ride Guide, Height Restrictions & Accessibility

Drakon Overview at Paultons Park (Image: Paultons Park)

Drakon is one of the biggest and most exciting additions ever coming to Paultons Park. Opening as part of the new Viking-themed land, Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, this thrilling roller coaster is set to become the park’s most intense attraction to date.

Manufactured by Gerstlauer, Drakon will be the first inverting roller coaster in Paultons Park history, featuring a vertical lift hill, a beyond-vertical drop, and two inversions designed to introduce families to more intense coaster experiences.

What is Drakon?

Drakon is a custom Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster located within Valgard: Realm of the Vikings. The attraction has been designed to deliver a more thrilling experience while still remaining accessible to families and younger thrill seekers.

The ride reaches approximately 75 feet tall and includes:

  • A vertical chain lift hill
  • A beyond-vertical first drop
  • Two inversions
  • A zero-gravity stall element
  • Viking-inspired theming throughout the area

Drakon is expected to become the headline attraction of Valgard when the new land officially opens.

Height Restrictions

Drakon has been designed with a lower height requirement than many major UK thrill coasters, making it more accessible to families.

Rider Requirements

  • Minimum height: 1.25 metres
  • Guests under 1.4 metres must ride with a responsible adult

The lower height restriction is intended to introduce younger riders to inversions and more intense coaster elements in a family-friendly environment.

Accessibility Information

Before riding Drakon, guests should be aware of the attraction’s safety and accessibility requirements.

Guests are advised not to ride if they:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have heart conditions
  • Suffer from back, spinal, or neck problems
  • Experience high or low blood pressure
  • Suffer from vertigo or Meniere’s Disease
  • Have recently undergone surgery
  • Have broken or fractured limbs

Leg plaster casts and medical boots are also not permitted due to evacuation safety procedures.

Mobility Requirements

Drakon is unsuitable for guests with limited mobility. Riders must:

  • Transfer into the ride vehicle unaided
  • Walk unaided in the event of an evacuation
  • Sit upright independently
  • Maintain full body control throughout the ride
  • Hold onto the restraint at all times

Wheelchairs must remain outside the queue line because of evacuation limitations.

All riders must also be able to fully secure the restraint system before dispatch. If the restraint cannot be properly engaged, guests will be unable to ride.

Queue Assist Access

Guests using Queue Assist can enter via the dedicated entrance located next to the ride exit.

Queue Assist guidelines include:

  • Minimum of 1 carer allowed
  • Maximum of 3 carers allowed
  • Maximum of 1 Queue Assist group per ride cycle
  • Maximum of 1 ride per day using Queue Assist

As Drakon is expected to be one of the park’s most popular attractions, availability may vary during busy periods.

Part of Valgard: Realm of the Vikings

Drakon forms part of the brand-new Valgard area at Paultons Park, opening in 2026 adjacent to Lost Kingdom. The themed land will also include:

  • Raven (the rethemed Cobra coaster)
  • Vild Swing
  • A Viking-themed playground
  • A Nordic-inspired feasting hall restaurant

The entire area has been designed to offer a more immersive experience aimed at older children, teenagers, and families looking for bigger thrills.

Drakon represents a major step forward for Paultons Park, bringing the park’s first-ever inversions and most intense roller coaster experience to date. With its vertical lift hill, thrilling layout, and family-accessible height restriction, the ride looks set to become one of the UK’s standout new coaster additions.

For families ready to take the next step into more thrilling attractions, Drakon could become the perfect first inverting coaster experience.
