A much-loved piece of Blackpool Pleasure Beach history is set to return in 2027, with the iconic River Caves currently undergoing a major re-imagining.

The historic attraction first opened in 1905 and has been closed since 2024. Pleasure Beach Resort Managing Director Amanda Thompson OBE has now confirmed that the ride suffered from a major water leak, with work taking place to identify and repair the issues.

The River Caves is being given a fresh new look, with a mixture of refurbished and brand-new scenes planned while still retaining some of the attraction’s much-loved history. Pleasure Beach has previously confirmed that the ride is being re-imagined while staying true to what makes it special.

The ride system is also receiving updates, including smaller boats with more comfortable seating, promising a refreshed experience for guests.

After more than a century at the resort, it looks like the River Caves will soon be ready to welcome a new generation of riders when it returns in 2027.
