The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 as the beloved family theme park marks 30 years since opening its gates. First welcoming guests on 17 March 1996, the resort has grown into one of the UK’s most popular attractions for families, with more than 55 rides, attractions, and interactive LEGO experiences designed primarily for children aged three to twelve.

To mark the occasion, the park has launched a year-long birthday celebration packed with nostalgic surprises, new entertainment, and special LEGO builds, giving visitors plenty of reasons to celebrate three decades of imagination and play.

A Nostalgic Trip Back to 1996

One of the centrepieces of the anniversary celebrations is a brand-new “1996 High Street” scene in Miniland, which recreates the sights and culture of Britain in the mid-1990s.

The detailed LEGO display was unveiled by 90s TV personality Pat Sharp, adding to the nostalgic theme of the attraction’s anniversary. The model required more than 12,000 LEGO bricks and took park model makers over 170 hours to complete, capturing the era in miniature form.

The display celebrates the year the park first opened, offering guests a fun reminder of how Britain looked in 1996 and how far the resort has come over the past three decades.

A Giant LEGO Birthday Cake and New Shows

The celebrations began early in 2026 with the unveiling of a spectacular giant LEGO birthday cake, standing over 13 feet tall and decorated with models inspired by iconic park attractions such as Miniland and LEGO MYTHICA.

Visitors attending the anniversary events can also enjoy several brand-new entertainment offerings, including:

  • Birthday Brick Bash – a lively party show featuring music, dancing, and LEGO characters.
  • A special opening sing-along show to kick-start the day’s celebrations.
  • Meet-and-greet opportunities with themed characters including the “Birthday Cake Guy”.
  • Limited-edition 30th birthday POP badges available through in-park challenges.

Together, these experiences help transform the resort into one giant birthday party throughout the 2026 season.

A Year-Long Celebration for Families

The park’s 30th anniversary officially kicked off on 14 February 2026, with celebrations continuing throughout the year alongside the resort’s regular rides and seasonal events.

Guests visiting during the anniversary year can expect:

  • Special birthday-themed shows and entertainment
  • Exclusive LEGO builds and nostalgic displays
  • Character meet-and-greets and family activities
  • Classic attractions including The Dragon, LEGO City Driving School, and LEGO NINJAGO The Ride

The resort is also encouraging fans to share their favourite memories from previous visits as part of the anniversary celebrations, highlighting the role the park has played in family holidays for generations.

As we celebrate our 30th year, it’s fantastic to see generations of families come together to create even more awesome memories where imaginations and creativity unleash in the world of play. It’s the perfect opportunity to reflect on the iconic 90s era and encourage families of all ages to build with us year after year. Unveiling our new ‘1996 High Street’ scene in Miniland is the perfect way to rewind and reflect on where all the fun began in March 1996.
