A major new thrill ride is set to make waves in the UK theme park scene, as Pirates’ Plummet prepares to open at Crealy Theme Park & Resort this spring.
The Devon-based park has officially confirmed that its brand-new drop tower attraction will open to guests on 3rd April 2026, marking a significant investment in bigger and more adrenaline-fuelled experiences.
A New Landmark for Crealy
Towering at approximately 80ft (25 metres), Pirates’ Plummet will become not only the tallest ride at the park, but also the tallest drop tower in the South West.
Riders will be lifted high above the park, offering sweeping views across the Devon countryside, before plunging back to earth in a sudden, heart-racing drop designed to deliver maximum thrills.
The attraction is being positioned as a family thrill ride, bridging the gap between Crealy’s younger offerings and more intense experiences for older children, teens and adults.
From “Magma” to Pirates’ Plummet
Interestingly, the ride is not entirely new to the UK theme park landscape. Pirates’ Plummet is a reimagined version of “Magma”, formerly located at Paultons Park.
After closing in 2025, the ride was relocated to Devon and has undergone a complete retheme by the Crealy team, transforming it into a pirate-themed attraction complete with immersive theming elements.
What Riders Can Expect
- Height requirement: 110cm minimum (under 130cm must ride with an adult)
- Ride type: Drop tower (SBF Visa Group “Drop’N Twist”)
- Experience: Gradual ascent followed by a sudden freefall drop
- Target audience: Older families, teens, and thrill seekers
The ride’s combination of height, views, and sudden drop is expected to deliver a “first big thrill” experience for many guests.
Part of Crealy’s Biggest Year Yet
Pirates’ Plummet is just one part of a wider expansion at the park. Crealy has confirmed that a second major attraction, “Rotor”, will also debut later in 2026—set to become the South West’s first inverted ride.
Together, these additions represent a bold step forward for the park, which has traditionally focused on younger families but is now clearly aiming to broaden its appeal.
