The summer holidays are continuing across the UK, but with September fast approaching, some of the biggest summer events are entering their final weeks.
From the final days of Minecraft at Alton Towers to LEGO Festival, live entertainment and fireworks at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, here’s what’s happening at UK theme parks this week.
Minecraft: Meet the Mobs Nears the End at Alton Towers
Minecraft fans have just a few more days to experience Minecraft: Meet the Mobs at Alton Towers.
The event runs until 28 August 2026, meaning this is one of the final weeks to experience the interactive Minecraft event at the resort.
Guests can enjoy hands-on activities and mob encounters inspired by the hugely popular video game, alongside Alton Towers’ rides and attractions.
If you’ve been planning a visit, there’s not much time left to experience Meet the Mobs before it finishes for 2026.
LEGO Festival Continues at LEGOLAND Windsor
There’s still plenty of time to enjoy the LEGO Festival at LEGOLAND Windsor, which continues until 31 August 2026.
The festival includes five themed zones packed with LEGO builds, live entertainment and interactive experiences.
One of this year’s highlights is the new LEGO Pokémon Play Zone, where guests can take part in an interactive Trainer Center experience, build a LEGO Poké Ball and meet LEGO Pikachu.
There’s also the F1 Thrill Zone, featuring a LEGO Formula 1 Brick Stop Challenge, Pit Lane Hype show and the chance to design, build and test your own LEGO F1 car.
The festival is included with park admission.
Late Night Riding & Fireworks at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is preparing for another spectacular evening as Late Night Riding & Fireworks returns on:
Saturday 29 August 2026
The fireworks will begin at 10pm, with the spectacular display lighting up the sky above the park’s rides and roller coasters.
The event provides the opportunity to enjoy the park later into the evening before finishing the night with the fireworks.
Visitors should be aware that some rides will close earlier than scheduled because of the fireworks safety exclusion zone. These include The Big One, ICON, Big Dipper and Pleasure Beach Express.
JoJo Tribute Coming to Lightwater Valley
Lightwater Valley’s August All-Stars Summer Sessions continue this Saturday with a JoJo live tribute.
The performance takes place on:
Saturday 29 August 2026
There will be three performances during the day:
- 12pm
- 2pm
- 3:30pm
The show celebrates the music of JoJo, including hits such as Leave (Get Out) and Too Little Too Late.
The performance is included with park admission and forms part of Lightwater Valley’s August programme of Saturday live entertainment.
Great British Summer Savings Nears Its End
Families looking to save money on days out have just over a week left to take advantage of the Government’s Great British Summer Savings scheme.
The temporary VAT reduction runs until 1 September 2026, covering eligible attractions including theme parks and amusement parks.
The VAT rate on eligible activities has been reduced from 20% to 5%, with the Government expecting businesses to pass the savings on to customers.
With the scheme ending on 1 September, families have until then to make the most of any participating attractions offering the reduced prices.
