Guests are then escorted towards the lift hill and begin their climb, with scheduled pauses along the way to take in the views and learn more about the ride.

At the summit, approximately 235ft above the ground, participants have an opportunity to appreciate the views and take photographs at permitted stopping points.

The descent involves 420 steps, with a pause at around 100ft. The full experience takes approximately 60 minutes.

Walk The Big One experiences take place outside the resort’s normal operating day and must be booked separately from general park admission.

Important Information Before Booking

There are several requirements visitors should be aware of before booking either experience.

Participants must be at least 12 years old and 1.32 metres tall. Each climb is limited to a maximum of six walkers.

Sturdy footwear, such as walking boots with good grip, is essential and is not provided. Harnesses, helmets and other protective equipment are supplied by the resort.

The climb is physically demanding and involves steep sections, heights and potentially uneven or slippery surfaces. Participants must be able to walk unaided, hold a handrail and follow the safety instructions.

Weather conditions can also affect the experience. Wet, windy or stormy weather may lead to postponement or cancellation.

Visitors should check the official booking pages for the latest availability, terms and conditions before travelling.

A Unique Way to Experience The Big One

Since launching in 2013, Walk The Big One has offered guests a different way to experience one of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s best-known attractions. The extended XL version was introduced in 2022, giving visitors another option for exploring the rollercoaster.

With dates now listed for spring and early summer 2027, fans of rollercoasters and high-adrenaline experiences can begin planning their next visit to Blackpool.

Whether choosing the standard climb or the extended XL experience, reaching the top of The Big One promises a very different perspective on the famous Blackpool skyline.
