Visitors planning a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach should be aware that two of the park’s iconic attractions are currently unavailable.
According to the park’s latest ride availability information, both the Pleasure Beach Express and the historic Big Dipper are currently listed as closed.
Big Dipper Remains Closed
The closure of the Big Dipper follows an incident on 23 July, when the classic wooden roller coaster came to a stop during operation. Guests were safely evacuated by trained staff, with no injuries reported, and the park confirmed that an internal investigation is taking place.
The Big Dipper, which first opened in 1923, is one of the UK’s oldest operating roller coasters and remains one of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s most recognisable attractions. While the ride had recently reopened following planned maintenance, it has since been taken out of service again, and no reopening date has been announced.
Pleasure Beach Express Also Unavailable
The Pleasure Beach Express, the park’s historic narrow-gauge railway that has been transporting guests around the resort since 1933, is also currently listed as closed on the official ride availability page. At the time of writing, Blackpool Pleasure Beach has not provided a reason for the closure or confirmed when the attraction will return to service.
