One of the UK’s oldest and most treasured theme park attractions is celebrating a remarkable milestone this year.
The iconic Water Chute at Wicksteed Park has officially turned 100 years old, marking a century of thrills, laughter, and unforgettable family memories. To celebrate this incredible achievement, Wicksteed Park has launched a fundraising campaign to help preserve the attraction for future generations.
A Century of Splashing Fun
Since opening in 1926, the Water Chute has become one of the defining attractions at Wicksteed Park. Generations of visitors have experienced the excitement of the historic ride, making it one of the park’s most recognisable landmarks.
As a Grade II listed attraction, the Water Chute is an important part of Britain’s amusement park heritage. Its unique character and history make it one of the country’s most significant surviving water rides.
The Water Chute Appeal
To help protect the attraction for the next 100 years, Wicksteed Park has launched the Water Chute Appeal, with the goal of raising £30,000.
The funds will be used to restore the historic roof of the Water Chute, helping to preserve one of the park’s most loved heritage structures while ensuring it can continue welcoming families for years to come.
The campaign carries a simple but powerful message:
“Restoring the Water Chute today, so families can continue making memories tomorrow.”
Keeping History Alive
Maintaining historic attractions comes with significant costs, particularly when they are protected heritage structures. Every donation will help ensure the Water Chute remains a centrepiece of Wicksteed Park and continues entertaining visitors for generations.
As the attraction celebrates its centenary, the appeal gives theme park fans, history enthusiasts, and families the opportunity to become part of its next chapter.
How You Can Help
If you’d like to support the restoration of this historic attraction, donations can be made through the official Water Chute Appeal.
